Wu Liangjiang: Challenges Create Progress Name card: Wu Liangjiang, production operationsupport engineer of Process Department, attended the International Labor DayCelebration and the Model Worker and Outstanding Individual CommendationMeeting of 2023 of Fujian Province on April 25, and was awarded the honorarytitle of "Model Worker of Fujian Province". He won the "May DayMedal" of Fujian Province, "Quanzhou Model Worker","Quanzhou Craftsman", "Quanzhou Skilled Master", and"Most Beautiful Worker" of Quanzhou City. Several innovation projectsled by him won Fujian provincial level awards.
Hard work makes expert Wu Liangjiang joined Fujian Refinery in his 19years old. Since then, he closely connected his life with petrochemicalindustry. During the past 31 years, he participated in the construction of manymajor projects such as Fujian Refinery, Revamp and Expansion of the 4 MTARefinery, Fujian Refining & Ethylene Integrated Project and SC DebottleneckRevamp Project. As experiencing many different posts, he has encountereddifficulties and challenges, as well as obtained successes and joys. "Challenges create progress and bring us senseof achievement." Looking back on his work experience for more than 30years, Wu Liangjiang, who was lately awarded the title of Model Worker ofFujian Province and the production operation support engineer in Process Departmentof the Company, summed up his career like this. When he was an operator, Wu Liangjiang was diligentin learning and studied hard. He actively participated in skill competitions, promoted practice and learning through competitions, and achieved outstandingperformance. Soon he mastered the production and operation techniques of 7refining units, gradually became an expert in hydrogenation units, and wasinvited by other petrochemical enterprises to support the startup of their newunits. "I don’t like staying still, and always thinkabout improvement opportunities whenever I have free time." In the first 4years of career, Wu Liangjiang was an ordinary operator taking care refiningand valve operation, filling his days with regular and tedious work. Practicemakes perfect, after being familiar with daily operations, he began to identifysome gaps and then worked out some "know-hows" to improve. He wasnoticed by the unit manager because of his outstanding performance, and quicklybecame the principal operator and took complete charge. Wu Liangjiang was diligent in learning andthinking. Based on the actual production, he summarized and prepared thestandard operating procedures and rolled out training in the Company, whichimproved the operational skills of the operators. After promoted to shift lead,he strengthened shift team management, formulated and implemented KPIs andaction lists, and played a leading role as a model. For operation management ofkey areas and critical equipment, he took the method of "responsible areamanagement" to ensure long-term stable operation of the critical machinesets. He explored and developed a series of effective shift team managementmethods such as the point system for shift team member and the division ofresponsible areas. The shift team led by him was awarded the honorary title of"Worker Pioneer of Fujian Province" as a truly "gold medal shiftteam".
Remarkable achievements from hard study andinnovation. For the fuel oil produced in SC, currently we onlyhave limited further processing methods. Through technical research, weconverted it into fuels for heating furnaces to replace the high-priced LNG/LPG, and achieved good results in resource conversion and reuse." WuLiangjiang said. This Project saves nearly 100M RMB in energy cost annually forthe Company. Wu Liangjiang liked to stay in field and"worked out" something. Like air preheater revamp, heating furnacefuel replacement and insulation modification of steam system, all these goodideas have brought remarkable economic benefits to the Company. In theCompany's Innovation Day Activity, he won 4 first prizes and 1 third prize, andwas known as "Edison" in the Company. Innovation is the primary driving force. With astrong sense of innovation, Wu Liangjiang took every problem as opportunitiesfor further improvement, and actively engaged in innovation and profitabilityimprovement. He developed a "multifunctional F-type explosion-proofwrench", which is more convenient to use in the field, and was certifiedby the national practical patent. "Wu Liangjiang is good at thinking andinnovation." His colleagues highly commented on him. Wu Liangjiang was committed to promoting theProject of Using SC PFO to replace FCC slurry as heating furnace fuel”. Therewas no experience to refer to at that time, and many colleagues questioned thisidea. Despite the challenges, he stepped up and said: "I'll be the firstperson to eat crabs." He conducted trail run in DAU heating furnace, andfinally succeed after many rounds of adjustment and optimization. Hard workpays off, this innovative not only significantly reduced the sulfur content offlue gas, but also greatly mitigated wear of the burners and ash deposition inthe furnaces. This practice was then rolled out to all heating furnaces of theCompany in 2014, and achieved good results. After nearly half a year hard work, the oil consumption rate of the Company's heating furnaces was increased froman average of 6 tons/ hour to 22 tons/ hour. It significantly reduced theconsumption of high-value feeds, and saved about 288M RMB energy costs everyyear for the Company.
Build a platform for talent development As the lead of the Production Skills Training Baseof Employees, Wu Liangjiang often carry out practical skills training for youthemployees, explained the standard operation procedures of pump startup/shutdown, key points of energy isolation and field safety management. Hesupported talent development and provided talent supports for the Company'sdevelopment through conducting continuous trainings. In August 2020, sponsored and promoted by WuLiangjiang, the Production Skills Training Base of Employees was officiallyunveiled and put into use. This was the first production and operation skillstraining base transformed from a production unit in petrochemical industry inChina. With an area covering more than 20,000 m2 and 423 setsof main equipment, the Base was suitable for operational drills for almost allbasic subjects of petrochemical production. The Training Base assignedexperienced operational backbone as part-time lecturers, and well-educatedyouth employees with profound theoretical knowledge as part-time teachingassistants to form "golden couples". In addition, the small-classteaching mode helped students learn faster, profoundly and effectively. "As the lead of the Base, I should leadconstruction, curriculum design and training, and setup courses to meet the actual production needs, thus to make sure this trainingis more practical and in line with the needs of Business Teams," WuLiangjiang said. The Production Skills Training Base of Employees mainly playstwo functions: provide a training platform for the “new comers”, i.e. newgraduates, and provide a platform forthe operators on post to improve operational skills. It also supports laborcompetition, promotion and innovation. Led by Wu Liangjiang, the Baseestablished 6 training areas and provided more than 10 practical courses. Youthworkers would be assigned to posts after training, with stronger learningabilities and adapt to work more quickly. Wu Liangjiang fully utilized the Base to carry outregular business training, established a internal trainers team, and providedtraining for thousands of people every year. Based on the current situation ofthe frontline production team, the Base carried out production and operationalskill competitions regularly. In 2022, he was responsible for implementing theoperator skill competition covering more than 700 participants, the skillcompetition realized the goal of full participation/ training and achieved goodeffect. He regularly organized the "Youth Lecture" and "ModelWorker Micro Lecture", and engaged youth employees in construction of theStudio, thusly to pass on the petroleum spirit among the youths, promotepetrochemical incustry tradition, and gather strength for high-qualitydevelopment of the Company.
Qian Cheng: Only by Hard Learning and Field Practice Can We HandleAbnormal Operations
Name card: Qian Cheng, the shift leadof Fuels-1 Business Team, attended the International Labor Day Celebration andModel Worker and Outstanding Individual Commendation Conference of 2023 ofQuanzhou City on April 26, and was awarded the honorary title of "ModelWorker of Quanzhou". He had been awarded the honorary titles like"Sinopec Technical Expert" and "Sinopec Youth Expert". In the midst of the jungle of refiningtowers and pipelines, a man busily walked back and forth. It was Qian Cheng, the shift lead of Fuels-1 Business Team, who was conducting rounds inspectionof the units. Adhering to the spirit of hard work, precision and rigor ofpetroleum and petrochemical industry, he had been working hard on frontline ofproduction, and step by step became an outstanding frontline shift lead from anordinary field operator.
An expert fromhard work/ practice on post Joining the Company as an operator inHydrogenation Unit, Qiancheng worked tirelessly, studied hard and seized everylearning opportunity. He followed the experience master the Business Teamappointed for him in every step, and asked questions from the basic situation ofthe unit to the principle of process technology and the equipment. He alwaysconcentrated on learning with the spirit of “coming down to the bedrock”. Sometimes the master was baffled byhim, and jokingly said, "We are operators, no need to understand everything."However, Qian Cheng believes that "it is better to learn thoroughly andwork for the best". Anything his master couldn't answer, he askedengineers and his manager. Sometimes, he checked technical documents for beingafraid of troubling others. In only three years, Qian Cheng becameproficient in the whole-process operation skills of the production units andquickly became a backbone operator. Shortly after joining the Company, in theoperational skills competition organized by the Company, he won the first prizeas the top scorer. At the moment when he was put on the red ribbon, he had evenstronger determination to learn and further practice his skills. "Reactor catalyst unloading is acomplex operation involving both confined space entry and 24-houroperation." It was a difficult task during the unit maintenance as a"tough nut". Qian Cheng volunteered to take this most challengingtask, and took the lead in establishing a youth task force right after agreedby his supervisor. He participated in the whole process of passivation, cleaning, and safety watch for catalyst replacement in the reactor, providedassistance in detailing and finalizing the scheme, and made the record of theshortest time for catalyst loading/ unloading. Qian Cheng often said, "Only byhard learning and field practice can we handle abnormalities well." Duringrounds inspection after taking over the shift, he found a stream of lube oilflowing down the wall of the compressor shelter. He immediately realized thesituation was abnormal, then checked the leak source and inspected theequipment, and identified cracks on the lube oil pipeline joint of the shafthead pump, which could easily cause shutdown of the unit. He responded quicklyand reported immediately, notified field operator and console operator toprepare the standby machine set, quickly completed equipment switching andavoided an unplanned shutdown.
A model of strengthening management and working hard on “Three Basic” work In 2017, Qian Cheng was appointed asshift lead for his outstanding skills. He felt even heavier responsibility onhis shoulders. Frontline shift leads are the"head of soldiers", as well as the key points implementing "thefinal mile" management of the Company in primary level organization. QianCheng attached great importance to rounds inspection quality improvement, focused on operation management of key areas and critical equipment, andprevented production/ operation fluctuations concerning shutdowns of criticalmachine sets many times. There was onetime during maintenance of Hydrogen Purification Unit, the compressor failed tostart up after several attempts of many technical personnel and the experts ofthe equipment manufacturer. Qian Cheng led the shift team, carefully analyzedthe causes and reviewed the system process step by step. Thanks to their hardwork, the compressor and the unit were started up smoothly. Qian Cheng adhered to meticulousoperation and seek for profit from good management. He led the shift team toproactively participate in labor contests of "Margin Improvement" and"Energy-saving and Consumption Reduction", closely tracked KMVs, KEVsand other technical/ economic indicators, and improved the shift team's levelof refined operation. His shift team won the first place in above laborcontests of the Company may times. He was also awarded as the "OutstandingShift Lead" by the Labor Union of the Company many times.
Achievementsfrom innovations and quality/ profitabilityimprovement "Even small optimization andinnovation can create profit," Qian Cheng often said. For a while, the unit’s naphthaproducts were continuously unqualified, with much higher sulfur contents, whichaffected downstream products’ quality. Although many measures were taken, theproblem was not effectively solved. When all felt upset, Qian Cheng didn’t giveup. Through careful adjustment, he finally identified that the root cause wasthe low-pressure separation oil channeling to fractionation system. He then promoteda process revamp and solved the long-standing problem in production. From this experience, Qian Chengrealized that identifying problem is the seed of innovation. To address theproblem of low heat efficiency of the reaction furnace of HTU, he led the shiftteam to actively practice innovation activity, organized technical research onheat efficiency concerns of HTU reaction furnace, revamped energy-savingequipment and combustion system, which increased heat efficiency from 87% to93% and saved over 500K RMB in energy cost every year. Qian Cheng also participated in thefounding of the Production Skill Training Base of Employees. Based on thecharacteristics of petrochemical industry and the employees’ needs fortraining, he developed the courses, trained the employees, sorted and summarizedtypical operation methods for field operators, participated in preparing the"Typical Operation Methods for Field Operators", and assisted infilming of teaching videos to help new hires to quickly understand the basicoperation methods up to high standard. This practice was awarded the"First Prize for Outstanding Employee Technical Innovation Achievements of2021 of the National Energy Chemistry Geological System" by the NationalEnergy Chemistry Geological Labor Union. Define youth with struggle, createbright future through hard work and make extraordinary achievements on ordinarypost. Qian Cheng lived up to his words.
Huang Shuyi: Let Youth Bloom with Brilliant Flowers Name card: Huang Shuyi, theoptimization engineer in Technical &Planning Department, attended theInternational Labor Day Celebration and Model Worker and Outstanding IndividualCommendation Conference of Quangang District on April 28 and was awarded thehonorary title of "Model Worker of Quangang District". She was also awarded the honorarytitle of "Sinopec Outstanding Communist Youth League Member","Outstanding Communist Party Member of the Company" and"Outstanding Communist Youth League Cadre of the Company". She is a girl always smile, which isthe first impression many people have of her. Never using physical tender as anexcuse, she practiced skills diligently, studied hard and quickly grew into anindependent expert on post for the operation of core units in petrochemicalenterprise. She dedicated herself to work, proactively volunteered to serve asthe lead of the pandemic prevention volunteer group, coordinated and organizedvolunteers to undertake materials distribution and other logistics supportwork, and made positive contributions to pandemic prevention and control.
I’ll do it, and I can do it. In 2018, Huang Shuyi graduated fromFuzhou University and was assigned to a core unit - SC. As a new hire, shefully understood how big the responsibility was and felt great stress. Facingthe challenge, she kept in mind the creed that "quality and skill are thefoundation of ones’ career", and worked hard to improve operationalskills. She spent a lot of time on site. In the blazing sun or rainy days, standing beside the cooling box or on the reactor, she learnt the process flowin field and from every work in the field. Although the experience operatorsfrom time to time took care of her considering she was in the “beauty-love”age, she didn't mind getting sun tanned or having her hair/ coating soaked bysweat. She often said, "Let me do it, and I can do it." In just threeyears, she mastered both the console and field operation skills of SC andbecame the backbone of operating a core unit. She achieved good results in theskill competitions of the Company and the Business Team, and became anindependent technical expert. There was a time that PSV of py-gas compressortriggered, she cooperated with the shift team to calmly handle and effectivelyavoided big fluctuations of unit production.
Actively participated in volunteerservice for pandemic prevention and control As a youth party member facing theoutbreak of the pandemic, she volunteered to station in the plant right afterthe outbreak, worked hard on her post to ensure stable production andoperation, and supported the unit successfully responded to hand shortage andhigh risks during the special period of time. During the most difficult periodof the pandemic outbreak, as more and more employees were quarantined at home, the needs for drugs, food and other services were increasing. She volunteeredto organize and motivate youth employees to join the volunteer service. Servingas the lead of the volunteer service group, she coordinated volunteers toundertake logistics work such as materials distribution and nucleic testing, and made positive contributions to pandemic prevention and control.
Determined to be an outstandingengineer "The competition in petroleumand petrochemical industry is fierce. As an engineer, I shall practice skillshard, study technologies hard and help the Company to improve quality andprofitability. This is the faith and pursuit of technical personnel. I stillhave a long way to go." This year, she was transferred toPlanning &Optimization Group of Technical &Planning Department as anoptimization engineer. She actively participated in the work of the EmployeeInnovation Studio and played a positive role in driving implementation of themargin improvement projects and the cost saving projects. In 2022, the EmployeeInnovation Studio initiated 52 projects and completed 20 projects, whichleveraged the technological advantages and gave a full play to the role ofplatform of the Studio to improve quality and profitibility of the Company. Youth bloomed in practice." Theyouth of struggle and dedication is beautiful" she said.
Wu Qiuyue: Focus on Planning Wu Qiuyue, a member of the Communist Party of China, is a senior engineerof Technical and Planning Department of FREP. She has been awarded honorarytitles such as "Outstanding Communist Party Member","Outstanding Party Member Demonstration Post" and "FemaleEmployee Model Post". 31 years ago, Wu Qiuyue graduated from Fushun Petroleum Institute andjoined FPCL. Starting as an operator, she worked in multiple fields likeproduction operations, technical management and process engineering design, andgradually she grew into a true "business planning expert" of thecompany.
Thinking whileworking. In July 1991, Wu Qiuyue, after graduating from university, was assigned toHydrogenation Reforming Unit of the then Fujian Refinery. At that time, asthere were not many college graduates working in the unit, they were verypopular, and engaged in many process and technical jobs. After years of work, she learned how to think about issues, find root causes, work out solutions andmake optimizations with thinking. She led the renovation process design of thealkali residue treatment unit, fundamentally solved the standing issue of wasteresidue treatment, and won the Science and Technology Progress Award of thecompany. Through technological innovation, the blockage issue caused byammonium salt crystallization in the naphtha hydrogenation system was solved. She participated in preparing the emergency response plan for multiple-unitfailure and load shedding of Fujian Refining and Ethylene Integrated Project, making positive contributions to ensuring the smooth completion and operationof the integrated project. She said, "I have been working for more than 30 years andparticipated in 1992 Sept. and 1993 June startups in the early stages of FPCL.I have witnessed the end of the history of not producing a drop of oil inFujian Province, undertaken the plan review and startup and commissioningcoordination of Fujian Refining and Ethylene Integrated Project, and witnessedthe development and growth of the joint venture. I feel very proud and honored."
Focusing onplanning. In 2012, Wu Qiuyue was transferred to the position of Senior BusinessPlanning Engineer in Technical & Planning Department of FREP, responsiblefor coordinating the preparation of the company's business plan, comprehensiveplan and other plans. Business plans are crucial for the company's production, operation and development. They should give considerations to the long-termdevelopment of the company and comply with current business decisions at thesame time. The goals set should be both reasonable and feasible, while alsobeing challenging. The process of preparing business plans is full ofuncertainties, facing difficulties such as a short preparation time and a widerange of personnel to be coordinated, while the macro market environment isalso constantly changing. Facing all the difficulties, she always concentrateson planning carefully. Thanks to her years of experience in production technical posts, Wu Qiuyuehad a clear understanding of each step of preparing the business plan, and alsofelt the importance of the responsibility. She said, "The business plan isa blueprint that guides the company's development, and I deeply feel theresponsibility on my shoulders. It is my duty." With this sense ofcommitment, she deeply understood the company's production and operation, explored advanced business indicators, analyzed the competitive positioning, communicated with shareholders about the direction of development, anddelivered a high-quality business plan, which assisted the company in makingsignificant progress towards achieving its vision of becoming a world-classpetrochemical company with sustained competitiveness. Be a warm-hearted sister. In recent years, there has been a frequentsuccession of the new to the old employees in the company, and young employeeshave increasingly become the new force in various business areas of thecompany. However, lack of work experience became a issue. Wu Qiuyue alwaysprovided guidance patiently from the perspective of young people, helped themanalyze business weaknesses and gaps, and played a role of "teaching, helping and coaching". In daily life, she also guided young people toparticipate in more cultural and sports activities. Whether they won or lost onthe field, "Sister Wu" was always smiling in the audience. During theepidemic, she joined the volunteer team immediately to help colleagues out ofdifficulties. Now, she is working hard on the company's next 5-year business plan. Looking back at her work experience over the years, Wu Qiuyue said,"Stick to your choice. Since we choose to join the petrochemical industry,we must make contributions to the industry. I will soon retire, and I cherishand love this career even more. I will work and love it till the last minute, sticking to high work standard and high work efficiency, and keep highmorale."
Zhang Honghe:Concentrate on Production Zhang Honghe, a member of the Communist Party of China and a seniorengineer, is currently PCL of FREP Offsites Business Team and deputy secretaryof the Party Branch. He has been awarded honorary titles such as"Outstanding Party Worker" and "Outstanding Communist PartyMember" of the Company. In 1994, Zhang Honghe graduated from Fushun Petroleum Institute and joinedthe then Fujian Refinery, where he was assigned to the Offsites workshop. Sincethen, Zhang Honghe has been struggling in the Offsites system, graduallygrowing from an operator to PCL of Offsites Business Team.
Concentrate onProduction At the startup stage of Fujian Refining and Ethylene Integrated Project, one of the critical paths was to put the new flare system into operation. Theflare system was started up for the first time, involving multiple processunits, intertwined processes, complex communication and coordination interfaces.Faced with difficult tasks, Zhang Honghe took the initiative, carefully sortedout the pipeline routes, and validated the startup scheme in his mindrepeatedly. He rode a bicycle on site from morning to night and from east towest, climbing up and down, checking each pipeline and discussing the relatedunits one by one to confirm the process medium. He organized personnel of eachdiscipline to carry out condition confirmation for production and startupsafety, provide safety management instructions, repeatedly conduct desktopmaneuver, so as to confirm every detail, set up the purging procedure andrefine the startup scheme. Due to full preparation and appropriate measurestaken in the early stage, the flare system was put into use safely on schedule, laying a favorable foundation for the smooth startup of subsequent units. The tank farm of Offsites Business Team is widely distributed withcomplicated system pipelines, and rounds inspection is difficult in the farm.In order to ensure effective rounds inspection of the unit, Zhang Hongheproposed the "grid-based, all-weather and full-coverage" roundsinspection method, which was well-known within the Business Team, based on hisyears of production experience. The key to this rounds inspection method liedin the combination with job responsibility system, ensuring thatresponsibilities of each area have been assigned to each specific person, achieving grid-based rounds inspection and ensuring that each responsibility isfulfilled. The responsible person of each area was required to go through thearea and confirm the process immediately after and before taking over theshift, and implement the principle of "10 do’s and 5 don’ts for shifthandover" to achieve all-weather and full-coverage rounds inspection. Once,an employee of the Business Team conducted a pre-handover rounds inspectionaccording to this method. When he came to the gas holder area, he suddenlyheard a strange noise at the compressor inlet. The shift team organized aninvestigation immediately and found a crack in the expansion joint at thecompressor inlet, and then the shift team immediately initiated the emergencyresponse procedure. Thanks to the early detection and appropriate handling, anincident was removed right in the bud. Production requires conscientiousness, and to ensure smooth production, wemust be very careful and detail-oriented. Concentrating on productionmanagement for years, Zhang Honghe had an in-depth understanding of it.
Proactivelyrespond to changes to promote improvement "Only by continuously optimizing production and actively adapting tonew situations and requirements can operations be more stable andefficient," Zhang Honghe often said. In recent years, facing the new needsof development, he has continuously promoted optimization and upgrading of theOffsites system, achieving fruitful results. Due to the insufficient capacityof the existing asphalt loading facilities, delivery of asphalt on land wasrestricted. He led the upgrading and renovation of the loading facilities, increasing the monthly asphalt discharge by 7000 tons, eliminating thelogistics bottleneck and adding a new profit growth point, laying a favorablefoundation for opening up the market and building the brand of asphalt product.Optimizing oil product blending quality and avoiding mass excess is the key toproduction cost control. Based on the company's gasoline pool structure, hepushed the online gasoline blending project, improved the stability of gasolineblending, reduced product mass excess, and improved the overall economicbenefit. In recent years, he has continuously promoted optimization oflogistics and new projects like SC C9 product delivery and P-Xylene pipelinedelivery... He has been working hard and making positive contributions to allthese achievements. In recent years, due to the quality upgrading of oil products, therequirements have become increasingly high, and the quality control of oilproducts is both a key and difficult point, which has become his research project. He spent a lot of time on site, comprehensively sorted out the process, identified weak points, developed improvement measures, and furtherstandardized and improved oil product loading and unloading and quality controloperations. He completed the preparation of 10 relevant systems to promoteup-to-standard operations through system construction, and practiced"every drop of oil is our commitment" with hard work. Looking back at his work experience, Zhang Honghe said, "After Istarted working, I learned a lot and also experienced setbacks. I alwaysbelieve that having a clear conscience is the best reward."
Zhuang Rongchun:Say No to Mr. Just So So Zhuang Rongchun is a console operator of GTG post of Utilities BusinessTeam of FREP, and has been awarded honorary titles such as "SkillChampion" by the company. In 1992, after graduating from high school, Zhuang Rongchun joined thethen Fujian Refinery and became a member of the thermal power workshop. Fiveyears later, he was transferred to the GTG post, starting his career of dealingwith GTG.
Ability comes frompractice. In 2007, construction of the Fujian Refining and Ethylene IntegratedProject was in full swing, and Zhuang Rongchun was assigned to the GTG consoleoperator post of Utilities Business Team. Although they were all called "GTG", the GTG in the integratedproject were designed for steam and electricity cogeneration, and the equipmentwas imported from abroad, with the operation instructions and HMI in English. Faced with the totally new technology, equipment and operating methods, hefelt stressed, and the situation got worse when he read English. He got coldfeet: "I just have a high school diploma. Perhaps it’s better to let youngpeople to do this console operator." At that time, the Business Team management saw his hesitation andencouraged him: "You have rich operation experience and strong mentality. As long as you put in some effort, you will succeed." With encouragement, his learned even harder. In order to familiarizehimself with the process operation, he took the initiative to become anassistant of the technology licensor in adjusting the system. Learning whiledoing, he made significant progress. But the most difficult thing was language. In addition to using anEnglish-Chinese dictionary to translate English words one by one, he also drewbilingual operation screens to enhance his memory. Soon, he learned andunderstood the English operation instructions thoroughly, especially afterexperiencing new unit startup, and he grew into a GTG operation expert of theBusiness Team. In 2019, a fan failure caused frequent tripping of the GTG. He analyzedthe cause thoroughly, identified the root causes, and proposed improvementmeasures such as optimizing the interlocking logic of the original design andmodifying the fan damper. The Business Team approved and implemented hissuggestion, achieved remarkable results and avoided similar failures. Inaddition, he continuously optimized the make up combustion operation of theGTG, and in the past three years, the success rate of make up combustion of theGTG and the waste heat boilers has reached 100%. Looking back on the journey from a layman to an "operationexpert", he said: "Many jobs require solid work rather than dreaming.Ability comes from practice."
Say No to Mr. JustSo So Unit 6481 low-temperature heat recovery project was one of the importantprojects for improving quality and profitability of the company. As a projectmember, Zhuang Rongchun participated in the entire process of construction andoperation. At the beginning of the year, due to the impact of the COVID-19, theproject progress was behind the schedule. In order to ensure timelyintermediate handover, he led the "three checks and fourdeterminations" of the project, confirmed installation of pipelines andvalves one by one, urged timely rectification of findings, and handled everydetail carefully. Sometimes, the construction party would make fun of him and asked him totake it easy, and he replied seriously, "There is no room for easiness forwork safety." Don’t be Mr. Just So So. With his insistence, Zhuang Rongchun influencedhis apprentices, who gradually grew into backbone and professional technicalpersonnel of the units. The rigor and meticulousness of my master taught me how to workdiligently, and his commitment and dedication taught me what the professionalattitude is like. He told me that don’t be just so so, but do my best,"Cui Hongda, a young employee, said with admiration. Speaking of his work, Zhuang Rongchun also said, "Although the workis ordinary, as long as you persist, you can experience the extraordinary senseof achievement. I always believe that hard work paysoff."
