In the afternoon of June 6^th, the 3/F conference hall in Quanzhou Office Building was full of applause in animated atmosphere. The final of Company HSSE Safety Knowledge Contest of 2019 was in full swing.

Company management Mr. Gu Yuefeng, Mr. Joost Emmen, Mr. Yang Hongbin, Mr. Lin Xu and Mr. Zhao Tianxing attended the event.

President Mr. Joost Emmen made opening remarks to express appreciation to the Labor Union for holding the event. He commented that June was titled as Safe Production Month, safety was not only the lifeline of petrochemical enterprises, but also the guarantee for realizing China Dream. Only by learning safety and environmental knowledge, could we better consolidate the safe production foundation of the Company.

He said that the players for the final were halfway to the success as they were tested in the preliminaries. The questions answered were also learning opportunities for all attendees. He expected all the players to work hard and play at their best, and wished them good results.

In the clangorous slogan of the colleagues and friends, the eight teams participating in the final walked to the stage one by one.

The final was divided into three sessions, i.e. The Remarkable Skills, Every Minute Counts and Narrow Path Encounter. The players shall fully understand safety knowledge in operations, and their flexibility and teamwork spirit were tested.

During the competition, the players aimed high and answered questions fluently in tense and fierce atmosphere on the stage, with chanting cheers of audience off stage. And in Quick Responses Questions session, everyone was active and enthusiastic; with witty remarks, the host was humorous and brought the players and audience together. They complemented and helped each other to bring the contest into climaxes one after another.

After fierce competition, Polyolefin BT won the first prize, Quanzhou Fuyuan Co. and Utilities BT won the second prizes, Fuels-1 BT, Electrical Maintenance Group and Product Quality Center won the third prizes, YPMC and EOEG BT team won the Excellence Awards.

 “The Contest is held in good timing and is necessary. Our company is now focusing on safe production. Through this competition, the employees systematically deepened their understanding on safe production knowledge and improved their safety abilities. It benefits us a lot in the work.” A safety supervisor from YPMC said.

Total 60 players in 21 teams from various departments/ BTs in the Company and 12 teams from contractors participated in the competition. The preliminaries adopted the form of objective questions answered via scanning QR code, and subjective questions answered in examination.

As one of the actions in National Safe Production Month, the contest aimed to further enhance safety awareness of employees and contractors, earnestly fulfill safety responsibilities and obligations, and implement safety in each production and operation activity. (Xu Hanru, Zhang Lei)
