The Company Held 2018 Annual Work Conference


On February 6th, the Company held 2018 Annual Work Conference to sum up the work in 2017, analyze the current internal and external situation and challenges, make full deployment of goals and tasks in 2018, reach a consensus on action plan and the next focus of work, mobilize all the staff to keep a clear mind, based on their posts, performing solid work for full completion of the annual objectives and tasks and laying a solid foundation to be a world-class petrochemical company with sustainable competitiveness.

The Company management Mr. Gu Yuefeng, Mr. Chen Xiaobo, Mr. Joost Emmen, Mr. Nouraddin A. Yousuf, Mr. Yang Hongbin, Mr. Lin Xu and Mr. Zhao Tianxing were present at the conference. The general managers and deputy general managers of the departments, business team managers and employee representatives attended the conference. The conference was chaired by vice president Mr. Nouraddin A. Yousuf.

President Mr. Joost Emmen made a work report titled “Cohesiveness, New Journey, Gear towards World-class Petrochemical Company.

President Mr. Joost Emmen, in his report, summed up the performance in 2017, analyzed the accomplishments and gaps for the past year.

Facing challenges in 2018, Mr. Joost Emmen commented that the challenges and risks brought about by the changes in the external environment had increased, the task of intrinsic quality and profit improvement and upgrading had become more urgent, arduous and prominent. He stressed that while facing challenges and difficulties, we should also see positive and favorable factors with unwavering confidence. In his report, he deployed the targets, tasks and key actions in 2018. He emphasized that we should focus on the key areas such as safety, health, environmental protection, security & control, reliability, margin improvement, cost efficiency, turnaround and people.

He reviewed the Company’s vision with the participants, and pointed out what action plan must be taken to be a world-class petrochemical company with sustainable competitiveness. He also discussed and analyzed the attributes of a world-class petrochemical company.

At the conference, the jet fuel export business implementation team, FCC shutdown optimization team and the crude (feedstock) procurement team were rewarded as “outstanding team”. 10 employees including Shi Zhicheng, Zheng Hengren, Tan Weilin, Ma Huacheng, Zhang Donghong, Chen Wen, Wu Chaojun, Liang Wenbing, Lin Yimin, He Zhiqiang were rewarded as “outstandking employee”; Chen Wen was granted “Popularity Award”; another 6 employees including Huang Chaofeng, Zou Liang, Zhao Xuesong, Chen Chaopeng, Li Yuhua and Li Hongwu were granted “outstanding employee nominee”.

During the conference, the participants were divided into groups to discuss and fully understand the contents of the work report, including the accomplishments and gaps in 2017 and the situation and challenges in 2018, and to reach a consensus on objectives and tasks, focus areas, work priorities and the measures for quality and profit improvement in 2018, so as to further enhance the sense of responsibility and urgency for profit improvement, perform duties and make contribution to complete the annual targets.

At the end of the conference, Chairman Mr. Gu Yuefeng made a summary speech. He said he was happy to share with everyone the Company’s best ever performance in 2017 but we should also need to have a good understanding of the serious situation and challenges the Company is faced with. To be a world-class petrochemical company with sustainable competitiveness, unremitting effort was required.

He stressed that first we shall strengthen confidence and face challenges bravely. We shall fully understand and play our advantages, including the support from the strong shareholders Sinopec, ExxonMobil and Saudi Aramco, the large-scale terminals for marine transportation, the 300K DWT terminal for direct unloading of crude oil, the advanced process technology, e.g. the most environment-friendly combination of DAU+IGCC unit as the only one in China, the scientific and good organizational structure, and the leading profitability in the industry among the enterprises with similar scale.

Second, we shall change mindset and enhance the company competitiveness. Based on the actual situation of the Company, work on Company development plan, focus on self-improvement and increase core competitiveness of the Company. Consider to build a smart, green plant with improved quality, increased profit and high capacity utilization. In recent years, FREP has made great improvement in company culture in aspects of “create values, satisfy customers, benefit employees, maximize shareholders value, and contribute to society”, and changed the mindset from “what I require you to do” to “what can I do for you”.

Third, we shall strengthen communication and target on same goal. He hoped that the whole organization to support the new term of OOP, strengthen communication and drive FREP to be a world-class petrochemical company with sustainable competitiveness.

The conference successfully completed all agenda and closed in the afternoon of the same day. (Xuan Wen)
