What is SOFA? Sofa (furniture)? No! SOFA is the nickname of “Safety of Office & Family” and operated by SOFA Committee, established in August 2015, which grew out of OSSC—Office Safety Steering Committee established in 2012.

Led by Mr. Joe Francis- GM of Finance, SOFA has a total of 31 members from various departments and BTs through the whole FREP, which is a real cross-functional committee.

On Nov.4 and Nov.5, 2015, SOFA organized an influential kick-off activity both in Quangang and Quanzhou. It is the first introduction of the concept of “SOFA- Safety of Office & Family” to all FREP employees.

During the two-day’s kick-off activities, SOFA committee members wearing the uniform clothes help deliver “Safety at work and at home” concept to employees in locations of Quangang Main Office Building, old changing room, new changing room, engineering building, EO/EG site, Terminals and Quanzhou New Office. Furthermore, committee also prepares elaborately a “Gift” for everybody who participates in the kick-off which is easy to carry with and convenient for use at home or office. What SOFA wants to achieve is that when people see or use their safety gift, it is a reminder which triggers the mindset of safety, not only for employees but also families and friends. SOFA’s objective is to “Promote overall safety awareness and associated personal responsibility for Office Safety and beyond the work place to keep safety alive and build a caring culture – engage employees, family, friends, relatives and colleagues to build a safety mind-set, behavior and attitude which is always active.”

SOFA pays attention to safety in Office and Family and is the supplement to current safety system in FREP. It is an innovation program to be initiated in your office, home and community.

SOFA is consisting of 3 sub-committees-- Communication Committee, Annual Safety Event Committee and Promotion Committee. They all have their own responsibility and will bring you fancy information and activities on office and family safety in the future. SOFA hopes they can plant the seed of safety in everyone’s mind through our tiny effort and let it grow and last.
