In the morning of November 11, 2015, the Company held the FREP Plant Open Day Activity, and invited more than 150 resident representatives from Shicuo Village, Qiucuo Village, Xianjing Village, Xianfeng Village, Houtian Village, and Houqian Village, etc. in the surrounding areas to visit the production site and personally witness the corporate work for safety and environmental protection. VP Nouraddin A. Yousuf and Parut Chatikavanij, Guo Ronghua, Deputy Head of Quangang District and the management personnel from the Process Department, HSE Department, HR & Admin Department, Office of Party Committee and Union, etc. attended the community forum.
In the welcome speech, FREP VP Nouraddin A. Yousuf extended a warm welcome to the representatives for visiting FREP and participating in the Open Day activity, and shared the corporate work for safe production and environmental protection. This is a wonderful opportunity for face-to-face communication. FREP has been always following the most stringent safety standards and fully complying with the applicable national laws and regulations. In regards to the forthcoming TA of the existing refinery in 2015, FREP has made a detailed plan based on the experience in the previous plant TAs and ensure to meet the applicable requirements for safety and environmental protection.
The management from Process Department and HSE Department respectively presented the arrangement of plant shutdown for TA and safety & environmental protection in 2015, and answered the representatives’ questions about the production condition and surrounding environment, etc.
At the end of the community forum, VP Parut Chatikavanij expressed that FREP could not succeeded in business without the substantial support from the local communities. FREP will strictly comply with the applicable laws and regulations; make great efforts to improve the safety and environmental protection performance, and continue this open and transparent communication with the local communities. He also believed that the TA of the existing refinery in 2015 would be a great success with our joint efforts.
As a part of communication, A Petroleum Refining Knowledge Video and the FREP Profile Video were presented to popularize some basic knowledge regarding the petrochemical industry and enable the community representatives to more clearly understand the wide use of petrochemical derivative products in the production and daily life.
Afterwards, the representatives visited the exhibition hall and the central control room, and observed the safety and environmental protection status in plant site through bus-tour. On the way, no pungent odor was smelled. In the central control room, the DCS operating screens are arranged in rows to control the production units for steady operation. After the visit, FREP invited the representatives to have lunch in the dining hall for experiencing the life of the employees.
With increasing awareness from the society for environmental protection, how to keep an enterprise in harmony with the environment and society becomes an issue to be addressed during the development. Public engagement is crucial to the guarantee of harmonious and sustainable development. In fact, corporate development is currently integrated and closely related with social harmony. Therefore, FREP has been committed to developing into a “responsible corporate citizen” and a “good neighbor of communities”. We hoped that the activities enable the residents in the surrounding communities to closely watch the true situations of the FREP internal operation, experience the corporate determination for continuously improving the performance in safety and environmental protection, and witness the corporate attention to the surrounding communities.
