The Company Held the Kick-off Meeting for the “Stop and Think” Themed Activity


As a part of the “Production Safety Month” activities, the company held the kick-off meeting for the “stop and think” themed activity in the Technology Conference Hall on the afternoon of June 15 to enhance employees’ safety awareness and understand how to “stop and think” during work.

Company management Gu Yuefeng, Joost Emmen, Nouraddin A. Yousuf, Yang Hongbin and Zhao Tianxing attended the meeting and made speeches.

Gu Yuefeng, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company, recognized the activity. He said that this June was the Production Safety Month and it’s very meaningful to carry out “stop and think” themed activity. The work sites was complex and widely placed, only by strengthening the control of the whole work process and ensuring zero tolerance to safety risks could the intrinsic safety be realized, and “stop and think” provided a good tool.

Gu Yuefeng commented that we should give full play to the role of the safety watch, timely identify and rectify potential hazards and remove work risks through “stop and think”, make the safety watch fulfill his duties and serve as the “gate-keeper” for work safety, thus forming a good work safety cycle.

Gu Yuefeng commented that safety was the lifeline of petrochemical enterprises, and every employee was responsible for safety. We should give full play to the role of safety leadership, lead by example and lead at frontline, set a good example and provide guidance, so that everyone could consciously shoulder the responsibility, keep the gate for safety level by level, earnestly fulfill the commitment to safety, and further consolidate the company’s foundation for production safety.

Company President Joost Emmen said that the premise of the company’s development was safety. High-risk operation is the key. Although we could not predict where the risks would be hidden, “stop and think” was a powerful tool to remove risks, we should always maintain the awareness of “stop and think”, made good use of this tool, and help people around us to get mastery of it, especially the frontline employees who would face more operational risks, so as to protect ourselves and others. He also took a story from his schooldays as an example to share his understanding of “stop and think”.

Company management Nouraddin A. Yousuf, Yang Hongbin and Zhao Tianxing respectively put forward requirements in terms of awareness cultivation, tool application and activity development, and encouraged everyone to learn from each other and sum up experience, so as to thoroughly understand the tool of “stop and think” and improve the safety management level of the company.

At the meeting, Mak Chee Wah, General Manager of HSE Department, introduced the necessity of “stop and think” and the subsequent work arrangements; Huang Huiming, PCL of Fuels-2 BT, shared the pilot run and experiences of the “stop and think” activities.

The management of various departments, business team managers and relevant personnel of the company attended the meeting.

It was reported that the “stop and think” themed activity has been roll out in Fuels-2 BT as pilot run, and 21 examples have been compiled, with obvious achievements. Next, the scope of this activity will be expanded to cover all frontline operators. (Zhang lei)
