Mr. Zhou Lianqing, the deputy governor of Fujian province, together with a group of officials from related authorities under direct administration of the provincial government, paid a visit to FREP to investigate the operation of industrial economy on August 17. They were accompanied by FREP leaders Gu Yuefeng, Nouraddin A. Yousuf, Joost Emmen and Liu Yanchang, etc.

The group visited exhibition hall, new CCR and plant area, and had talks with the management representatives of the company at the following symposium.

Mr. Gu Yuefeng, the chairman of the board and president of the company, gave a brief introduction of FREP’s operation status of this year in four aspects. First, overcapacity was reduced by strictly controlling the process volume of crude oil; second, structural adjustment was conducted based on the collaborative advantages of refining-chemical integration; third, we tried to tap new potentials for innovation-driven development; fourth, safety and environmental protection was always put in the first place and ensured by solid basic work.

Mr. Gu pointed out the challenges facing FREP and issues that require concern of the provincial officials.

How is the operation status of the company? What effective measures have we taken in offsetting the pressure of economic downturn? What difficulties have we encountered when promoting the structural reform of supply front and what issues can be solved with the support of the government? Mr. Zhou carefully listened to the speeches of the management staff, and discussed related issues with the others.

Mr. Zhou highly appreciated the record high profit that FREP has achieved this year. And he pointed out, despite the pressure of economic downturn in recent years, FREP has laid down a good foundation for its transformation and upgrading through closely following the future development trend, fully conducting work with regard to development mode transformation and structural adjustment, improving quality and efficiency and making product structure adjustment in advance. As a leading enterprise in Fujian’s petrochemical industry, FREP has been a strong support of Quanzhou economy which is now taking the lead in Fujian province. What FREP has done is of great significance. Furthermore, he hoped that petrochemicals enterprises would recognize trend and opportunities and take initiative in adapting to, studying and approaching market so as to promote the structural reform of supply front. Also, given the situation that the state, provincial and municipal governments are in full support of the development of industrial and manufacturing sectors, the petrochemical enterprises shall have full confidence in reducing cost and improving market competitiveness through more investment and technology reform, and on the other hand, they shall increase efforts in market research to estimate the demands of domestic market and consumers, and focus on quality improvement and brand building through product innovation and R&D.

Upon the request of Mr. Zhou, the government organizations at all levels shall provide proactive services, further increase the awareness of responsibility and overall situation, provide services effectively and properly, and lose no time in formulating and implementing detailed work plans that reflects key points and priorities, in order to help petrochemical enterprises develop in safe, eco-friendly and sustainable way.
