The 2016 newcomer welcome meeting was held for 51 new graduates at the technology hall of the company on the afternoon of August 1^st, with the participation of company leaders Gu Yuefeng, Nouraddin A. Yousuf, Joost Emmen, Yang Hongbin and Liu Yanchang, and other leaders from PROC. Dept., T&P Dept., MECH Dept. l and HR Dept. and  P & UO. The meeting was presided by Lei Xueqing, general manager of human resources & administration department.

Xu Xiaobin and Lin Qiaode shared their thoughts and experience about FREP respectively on behalf of existing and new employees. The 51 newcomers made their self-introduction and showed their passion to join in FREP family and do their bits for the company. Related leaders greeted them with best wishes. 

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Gu Yuefeng, the chairman of the board and president of the company, expressed welcome to newcomers on behalf of the company. He said, a solid first step is crucial for one’s career. Learning humbly and be thankful while working are basic qualities for a newcomer. He further said to the newcomers, “Always remember, when you leave, you leave with the logo and dream of Xiamen University” by quoting what Mr. Zou Zhendong, a professor of Xiamen University, said at a graduation ceremony. Likewise, once you choose FREP, your career will bear the mark of FREP from the first day you start from here, a mark to remind you move forward throughout the career.

Also Mr. Gu shared a story with the newcomers, which goes like this: at first, the canteen only opened one window for food serving, so people had to wait in queue; after a while, another window was opened, and those who were keen to get food immediately noticed and switched into the new line in front of the new window; while, those who were addicted to their smart phones lost the chance to get in the front of the line. Life is like waiting in a line. One has to be prepared at all times to grab the chance when it comes. “Newcomers need to focus on your desires and work hard to create your bright future,” he added, “today, you’re proud of FREP; tomorrow, FREP will be proud of you.”

Mr. Nouraddin A. Yousuf, the vice president of the company, said he was happy that the newcomers chose FREP. He told them, “you will have a happy time working here. Patience and perseverance are important when dealing with boring stuff both in work and life. Success comes from hard work. Do your work step by step on a solid basis, FREP will make your dream true.”

Mr. Joost Emmen, also the vice president of the company, said, “like you all, I’m happy to be a part of FREP family. As a large joint-venture, FREP has developed an optimal management mode based on the advanced management experience and concepts of both domestic and foreign shareholders. FREP’s vision is to become a world class petrochemical company with sustainable competitiveness. It’s also a place for you to learn.” At last, he hoped all newcomers would get adopted fast, learn from each other and cooperate with each other so as to make contribution for the company.

At last, a welcome speech was delivered on behalf of party committee by Yang Hongbin, the vice secretary of party committee, the secretary of discipline inspection committee and the chairman of labor union. He said, “I hope every new employee would have a proper understanding of what you work for and find a post that fits you most during the crucial stage of your life. Keep your feet on the ground and one step at a time. Achieve personal value and company value at the same time. Work hard for building a large happy FREP family.”

The 51 new graduates come from China University of Petroleum, Nanjing University of Technology and University of Hainan. They will bring new blood and vitality into the company. (Xiao Wanyuan)
