Look Back on 2015


Economics set a new record. 2015 witnessed the most challenges, pressures and difficulties confronting our company. But it was also an extremely extraordinary year. The whole organization focused on “Five KFAs” and priority work, launched quality and profit improvement action, rose to challenges, fought against difficulties, coped with hardships scientifically, adjusted business strategy as appropriate, endeavored to better operation management and created the all-time high economic benefit.  

EO/EG Unit finished construction and went into operation. EO/EG Unit started construction on 28th Aug. 2013, finished construction and intermediate handover on 11th Jan. 2015 and successfully went into operation on 30th Mar. 2015, changing the history of Fujian without such products ever since. Afterwards, EO/EG, DAU deep cutting project and C2 projects completed construction and went into operation, becoming a new growth point of the Company’s economic benefit.

FREP Fire Brigade participated in firefighting for Gulei Dragon PX plant. At 18:56 on Apr. 6, the xylene unit of Fujian Zhangzhou Gulei Dragon PX Plant blew up and caught fire. At the request of Fujian Administration of Work Safety and Fujian Provincial Fire Station, FREP promptly assigned Xue Yusong and Lin Bin, assistant managers of Aromatics BT, and Chen Xingyun, head of FREP Fire Brigade, to lead 6 fire engines and 46 fire fighters who rushed to the scene for firefighting and rescue. They leveraged their professional advantage for the accident rescue and emergency response, made due contributions and were recognized by Fujian Provincial Government and all circles of the society.

The Company’s frontline employee Zhang Zhaohong won the title of “National Model Worker”. Since joining work in Jun. 1991, Zhang Zhaohong has been rooted in frontline work of maintenance and management of refining and chemical instrument, led team members to work efficiently and creatively, successfully completed varieties of repair and routine maintenance work and made outstanding contributions to the Company’s work safety and maintenance/repair work. He grew himself to be an instrument team lead, then senior technician and won plenty of honors in succession including “National Model Worker”, “Central Enterprise Model Worker”, “Sinopec Group Model Worker”, “FREP Top 10 Employee”, etc.

The Company passed site assessment of Class A enterprise work safety standardization. Work safety standardize Class A enterprise accreditation organization (China Chemical Safety Association, or CCSA) organized experts to conduct an appraisal in FREP site on Nov. 2 and the overall appraisal score was 88.73, marking our company’s being a work safety standardization Class A enterprise. To be an enterprise of Class A work safety standardization is the requirement of Fujian Provincial Government and Provincial Administration of Work Safety on our company, and also our company’s key work target for 2015, which is beneficial for improvement of the Company’s image and reputation. 

FREP 2nd Party Congress was grandly held. Fujian Petrochemical Company Limited (FPCL) 4th CPC Congress and FREP 2nd Party Congress was grand held on Nov. 17. The Congress elected Liu Xiangdong, Liu Yanchang, Yang Hongbin, Chen Feishan, Chen Xiaobo, Hu Hongye and Gu Yuefeng as the members of FPCL 4th Party Committee and members of FREP 2nd Party Committee.

2015 old plant TAR/Revamp tough war achieved full success. The Company kicked off the planned shutdown, turnaround, modification, technical revamp, hazard elimination, etc. of the old plant refining units since Nov. 19. The tasks were arduous with the old refining and associated systems as the key work, a part of new units’ troubleshooting as the secondary work. Under the concerted efforts of FREP employees and contractors engaged in the TAR/Revamp, units after maintenance started up successfully at one go on 5th Jan. 2016, marking the full victory over the tough war of TAR/Revamp.

The Company kicked off corporate culture building program. The Company held a corporate culture building meeting on Nov. 9, inviting Hejun consulting company to plan for the Company’s corporate culture building. By special training, employee interview, management brainstorming, etc., a corporate culture core value and concept report was generated. Corporate culture relates to the future of the Company and the Company’s development strategy needs to be propped up by corporate culture. Employ advanced corporate culture to foster spirit and cultivate people, gather strength and mind in pursuit of common value and offer strong impetus to push the Company’s reform and development.

The Company gathered momentum in management innovation “brainstorming” move. The Company initiated a management innovation “brainstorming” move on Nov. 11, which fully drew upon the experience and wisdom and management at all levels, pinpointed the direction for FREP next-step reform, cleared thoughts for management innovation, effectively debottlenecked mechanism, system, policy and resources, and released new vitality and driven force for development.

The Company delivered on the responsibility as a corporate citizen and earned acclaim from all sectors of society. Over the past one year, the Company carried out “FREP Open Day” activity in a deep-going way and invited neighboring community residents to visit our plant for personal experience of the Company’s efforts in work safety, environmental protection, etc. In return, the Company’s management also visited neighboring villages such as Shicuo, Xianjing for communication and seeking comments from villagers. One resident of Xianjing Village said, “FREP old plant TAR this year is literally silent, not a bit noise, nor impact.”
